Here's where we post messages and thoughts

I set up this blog for our group and you are all authorized to post messages. Please do -- jump in and share news of interest, questions the group could help with, new books you like, .... anything you choose.

What a great idea Tom! Chris, the building looks awesome! Sorry Laurie and I missed the meeting. Big proposal with the State of MD. Hope to see you guys soon.

Chris's Memorial Service

Dear Family and Friends:

With great regret we inform you of the passing of Christopher Wetmore Walker, beloved son of Kitty and John Walker.

Chris passed away peacefully the evening of Wednesday, August, 30, after a prolonged struggle with multiple myeloma. He was comfortable and at home. His wife, Helen, daughter Ellen, son-in-law Benoist, and son Evan were by his side.

A memorial service is planned for 10 AM Sunday, September 18th at the Meeting House of Sidwell Friends School, located at 3825 Wisconsin Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. Chris asked that the service be non-denominational and wanted attendees to feel welcome to share their remembrances of him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Walker Family Fund, Experiment in International Living, PO Box 676. 1 Kipling Road, Brattleboro, VT 05302.

Next meeting --- June 9--- American culture doing business abroad and Social Impact of the Internet

Our next meeting is June 9 at Chris's office.

This Thursday Jody Olson will join us. Jody was the acting director of the Peace Corps and will give a talk about Americans doing business in foreign cultures. This will work well with Laszlo's comments on technology affecting international business.

Among the topics we will knock around is the impact of the internet -- Facebook, Twitter, Email... -on recent revolutions in the Middle East. More broadly, the impact of the internet on social progress and the internet's culture will be discussed.

The group will also translate this into a 'take home message': What does this mean to my business? How does the internet cultural transformation change the business I run.
